Is currently a web developer and has changed fields from a science background to a tech. I went to KSU for my undergrad in both chemistry and food science. I made the switch from food science to tech due to the global situation as I was laid off. During this time I had a lot of anxiety and depression about what to do next. I decided to go back to school. During my school time I took up pottery to help alleviate my stress and anxiety. This then became part of my regular routine and I kept learning about ceramics techniques from famous potters' blog and books, and slowly I was able to improve my skill. Once I was satisfied with my wheel skills I moved onto glaze chemistry. Thanks to my science background I was able to understand the glazes system and create my own glaze.
“Through ceramics has given me a creative outlet to express myself through my art. I always loved to draw and create and I am finally able to do so” - Vincent

I have been a business consultant for almost 10 years now. Born in Hong Kong and my family immigrated to Canada when I was a 9 months old baby. My mother had worked tirelessly to put me through school. Go to school as a young Asian immigrants was very difficult back then, and I have to learn both knowledge and English with very little help. Growing up I was never able to find a sense of identity, I always wanted bigger eyes, blond hair, white skin and the list goes on. As I got older I slowly learned to love myself and overcome a lot of my childhood traumas. I was able to unlearn a lot of things and become who I am today. Through my travels outside of North America I’ve learned that many different cultures have shared and blended many different types of art forms together to create some of the world's most sought after artwork. Through the looking glass I am able to constantly be inspired to create who shapes, try new techniques and experiment with different styles.
“Through ceramics I was able to overcome some of my biggest mental challenges and really learned to slow down, breathe, take my time and I was able to hear myself think for myself for the first time in a long time. I am truly grateful to have been able to pick up ceramics and create my art” - Kevin
